Acts 9:22

Let's get it out of the way...I've not posted in forever, I'm a bad blogger. Sorry. In true Forrest Gump style that's all I have to say about that. There are more important things at hand...

I'm reading Acts right now, I won't go into the reasons but I am, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, the Bible is easy to enjoy isn't it?!

The verse that forms the subject of this post enthralls me...

"Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by PROVING that Jesus is the Christ."

Proof. People today talk about proof a lot. It's that thing that we don't have and the safe reason why people can get away without ever actually engaging about the realities of the Gospel when we talk to them "I won't believe until someone proves it to me."

I realised reading this passage that I've subconsciously started believing that lie, the lie that we can't prove that Jesus is the Christ. The Bible tells us that Saul (Paul) did exactly that, he proved it over and over and not just to Johnny in the street either but to the well read, nicely versed Jews of his days who most definitely didn't want anything to do with this "Jesus is the Christ" chatter.

So I've realised I'm believing a lie but I've also realised that I have no idea how Paul proved it! I've decided to spend some time seeking the Lord about this, it's in the Bible so it must be true and it strikes me as being preeeetty significant for us today. I don't know if I'll get some revelatory world changing proof that makes a billion people Christians (I'm guessing I probably won't) but it's an interesting filter to have entering the new year on campus in a couple of weeks.
